However their are fewer females within the film in contrast to males, but, there is an increase in females watching Star Wars: The Force Awakens in comparison to the original Star Wars as they are more strong independent females in the new film such as Rey.

Therefore with the amount of action and fighting scenes in all Star Wars films, they prove more popular with males due to their preference to see these type of films in comparison to females.
